Robert W. Cosentino, Founder and Board Chair

Robert W. Cosentino is the Founder and Board Chair of The Conflict-Free Diamond Council located in Washington, DC. He has several years of successful marketing experience, particularly in start-up business environments. He is currently the Director of Marketing at the National Club Association.

Previously, Mr. Cosentino was a Marketing Manager for National Hotline Services, and a Marketing Representative for Miller Brewing Company. He has also performed consulting work for Cadillac in Washington, DC, and Panama’s Ministry of Tourism in Panama City, Panama. He has recently worked with Kardamili Olive Oil in Santiago, Chile on their American market entry and brand management strategy.

Mr. Cosentino earned his MBA in Marketing at The George Washington University in Washington, DC. He earned his BA in International Relations from American University in Washington, DC, and also attended The American University of Rome, Italy.

Mary Kay Carver, 1st Vice Chair

Mary Kay Carver is committed to labor rights issues from local to international levels. Her work in labor rights began with the co-founding of a labor advocacy student group. Through this group, she led a coalition of students, faculty and staff that persuaded the university to adopt a Code of Conduct governing factory conditions in which university apparel is produced. Ms. Carver also studied gender equality in employment opportunities in Chile, an experience that enhanced her later work as a consultant for the Worker Rights Consortium (WRC). At the WRC, Ms. Carver compiled reports on the international labor climate and managed a national worker speaking tour. Currently, she works with refugees in Baltimore as an Employment Advocate for Lutheran Social Services housed in the Baltimore Resettlement Center.

Ms. Carver is also experienced in non-profit development and capacity building. As a Training Coordinator at Campaign Consultation, she provided research for non-profit training materials on organizational sustainability, assisted in internal proposal writing, worked with clients to determine training needs, and conducted research on funding opportunities for social change organizations.

Ms. Carver is dedicated to improving equality in the work place and public awareness of labor rights issues. She has a BS in Business Administration from American University, where she specialized in Human Resource Management and Latin American Regional Studies. She has also attended La Universidad de Diego Portales in Santiago, Chile.

Joshua N. Kravitz, 2nd Vice Chair

Joshua N. Kravitz is a professional in the non-profit industry. His specialization is managing organizations with missions of direct service to the community. Most recently, he was the director of a voter rights organization. This post afforded him the opportunity to ensure that US citizens living in over 70 countries around the world had the right to vote in all federal elections. Previously, Mr. Kravitz ran a program that introduced violence prevention classes to the main curriculum of District of Columbia Public Schools. This program in DC schools was built on the premise that changes in teaching styles and intra-student communication will result in more peaceful learning environments. Mr. Kravitz's philosophy of positive change is built on lessons learned while running after-school tutoring programs in metropolitan Phoenix. His experience in Arizona taught him the importance of working with local communities to create constructive outcomes for both outside stakeholders and local community members.

Mr. Kravitz has also been an adjunct lecturer of writing at American University in Washington, DC and has taught at Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Law and Society and a Master of Arts in Rhetoric and Composition. He has lived in locations throughout North America, Europe, and the Caribbean.

Michael G. Winters, General Council

Michael G. Winters is an attorney licensed to practice in Massachusetts. He is currently a Counselor at Law with the firm Franchek Law, LLC, in Boston, MA. There, he has represented clients in matters concerning Real Estate Law, Condominium Law, Commercial Practice, Family Law, Personal Injury, and Business Law.

Mr. Winters studied Computer Science and Mathematics at Boston College, graduating with a BA in 2000. He spent two years as a Software Engineer with Raytheon Company before attending New England School of Law. In 2005, he graduated and became a member of the Bar of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Mike has also worked with H&R Block as a Tax Professional.

While in law school, Mr. Winters was an Editor for the New England Journal on Criminal and Civil Confinement. He earned a full-merit scholarship, appeared on the Dean's List, and was a New England Scholar which is an honor given to those in the top 10% of their class. He was significantly involved with both the student government and the International Law Student Association.

During the Spring of 2004, Mr. Winters interned with the Boston Stock Exchange, investigating potentially fraudulent securities trading. That summer, he interned with the US Army JAG Corps in Fort Meade, MD. During his time there, he aided in the successful defense of many soldiers facing court-martial.

Denise A. Kelley, Treasurer

Denise A. Kelley is an International Investment Performance Analyst for an investment consulting firm for non-profit organizations. Ms. Kelley assesses capital market trends to facilitate asset allocation decisions for clients with $50 million to over $2 billion in assets. She also monitors portfolio performance and evaluates the impact of investment decisions. Ms. Kelley earned a BSBA in International Finance from American University in Washington, DC. She has also attended La Universidad de Diego Portales in Santiago, Chile.

Margaret F. Cosentino, Senior Adviser

Margaret F. Cosentino is a research assistant for security studies at a non-partisan think-tank located in Washington, DC. Ms. Cosentino previously worked as a legal assistant at a leading corporate law firm. Ms. Cosentino earned a B.S. in Foreign ServiceÊfrom Georgetown University's Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service in International Politics.
