Where To Buy

Currently, there is only one program that meets all of The Conflict-Free Diamond Council's standards for certified conflict-free diamonds. CanadaMark has instituted a “chain of custody” program that monitors the diamond throughout it’s production lifecycle (from rough crystal to polished diamond).

Only a small number of wholesalers participate in this program, and market these diamonds under a select number of "brand names". The wholesalers then sell these branded diamonds through a network of jewelry retailers, and onto consumers.

A Diamond Mined in Canada is Not Necessarily Conflict-Free

CanadaMark does not represent then entire Canadian Diamond Industry. Diamond Conglomerates all over the world source their diamonds from Canada. Those diamonds are exported to cutting and polishing centers throughout the world, where conflict diamonds can be mixed into the general diamond supply.

Participating Brands as of November 2007

The following brands currently participate in CanadaMark’s chain of custody program. These diamonds are 100% mined in Canada, tracked through the cutting and polishing process, are laser engraved, and are accompanied by a certificate vouching for their authenticity.

For more information, please contact CanadaMark directly at www.canadamark.com.

Please note that The Conflict-Free Diamond Council previously endorsed the Government of the Northwest Territories’ (GNWT) Diamond Certification Program. Nine brands used to participate in this program (Ekati, Canadia, Loon, Aurias, Glacier, Aurora, Mappins, Polar Bear, and Polar Ice). However, The Conflict-Free Diamond Council no longer endorses this program.

The Conflict-Free Diamond Council endorses CanadaMark as the most comprehensive and effective chain of custody program for guaranteeing diamonds as conflict-free. However the CFDC cannot, with 100% certainty, guarantee that these diamonds are conflict-free.
